Try on dresses to see if Owww or Wow.
Hubby is hosting a party at a conference.
I have nothing new to wear. It would be terribly embarrassing for me to be in the same dress as all the pictures from last time we did this.
So I went downtown to shop today. Saw lots of cute summer dresses on sale so I tried some things on.
One thing I have learned about clothes. You can never tell whether something is going to look WOW or look OUCH unless you try them on.
So I gathered a bunch of dresses and took them into the dressing room.
I decided to try everything on and put them in a NO WAY stack. Or a MAYBE pile. And a WINNER group.
This is what happened.
Everything ended up in the WINNER pile.
Nothing was perfect but everything looked and felt good. What to do?
I tried everything on again.
Looked to see how they looked from the back.
See. I get very scientific about this.
Then IĀ looked at price.
And then I ended up with this.
I tried them all on again.
One showed too much cleavage for church. It’s not often that I put something on and think that’s a little hoochie mama much for sitting in worship before our Lord.
A cocktail party is an entirely different matter. So the cleavage dress stayed in the winner pile.
Then I don’t like my short legs in short skirts.
Then one dress made me look like I was about three months along. Will need some Spanx if I get that one.
Then shoes. What would I do about shoes for some of these because my shoe collection is on life support.
Finally when taking money, cleavage, tummy, shoes, stumpy legs into account, there were three I really liked.
So I bought them.
Now let’s just hope hubby misses this post.
Have you bought any new clothes lately? Or do you deserve any new clothes even if you haven’t bought any?
Totally jealous! If that was me, the first pile would have been all the rejects!!! Lucky you to be able to like all the dresses you tried on – I would have taken them ALL home and decided from there. But you obviously are one very, very patient woman. My hat is off to you š

Cute dresses! And you did it at such a good time – while they were on SALE. That’s a win! And I really need to purge my closet. All the business casual clothes I never wear anymore since “retiring.” Maybe I’d actually do it if I promised I could buy some fun new clothes that suited my current RHNJ lifestyle š
They all looked good because you have a great figure! I can’t believe you tried some of them on 3 times, you are very patient! Hope you have a great cocktail party and yes I wish I was your roomie at the upcoming blog conference. xoxo tiffani
I’m not that patient. I tried them on three times — just very quickly. š
I don’t remember the last time I scored that many winners in a single shopping trip! You will be a knock out I’m sure!
You’re sweet May. But the point is valid. Who has that kind of luck when you want to find a dress? Usually not me. I was talking about this with my running buddy today. When you have to find a dress you never do. Looks like it was the one time things worked out.
You look gorgeous in that pink dress! I am super picky too about buying new clothes. They have to look beautiful and look great on me. I just lucked out at the local surf shot and bought 2 sun dresses cheap. Have a great time at the party!
