The Renovation Diaries, Part VXXIII. A list of 10.

The Renovation Diaries, Part VXXIII. A list of 10.

Happy Monday.

The last few days I’ve been Jamie sells seashells by the seashore. I had every intention of blogging, seriously writing on my WIP and catching up on tons of reading.

Nope. Nope. And Nope.

This is basically what I did for four days. (While my husband worked at a conference. Poor guy.)

Sit and look at this and while rocking back and forth and softly humming Suwannee River.

Well, the rocking and humming only lasted the first 36 hours.

The Monday Listcle prompt is: 10 things I’m looking forward to . . .

I think my brain and body deciding to check out for four days was the cumulative effect of this renovation we are immersed in.

So my list of 10 is:

10 things I’m looking forward to in 2016 when this renovation is completed.

    Wow–that is quite a project you’re undertaking!

I can relate to not getting enough light in old houses. Ours is a 1938 Cape Cod with tons of trees around it…I love the shade in the summer, as it keeps the house cooler, but I do miss the light. 🙂

    Good luck with your project!

  2. This was pretty funny (sorry, Jamie… I know it’s not really for you). And boy can I relate to not enough light in an old house — and getting tired of living with renovation. We’re do it yourselfers and our next house (and I hope it’s soon) will be ULTRA MODERN with no changes necessary.

  3. Jamie Miles says:

My husband is right there with you on the new house Julia. He’s put up with this old house stuff for me. But even he has to agree when this is done it will be great.

  4. Jamie Miles says:

Marie — sometimes I think the high ceilings make it seem so dark. I am going to really enjoy all the recessed lighting they are adding.

Wait! 2016… is that correct? You’re going to live in that little cabin for 3 years??!!

  6. Jamie Miles says:

Cabin. I like that. No Jani. I hope we are released on our own recognizance by Thanksgiving. We’ll see.

This post–and especially the photos–made my blood run cold. It took me straight back to the renovation we did to our 1870-something house. This was the house that was last renovated in the ’50s when a siding salesman sold the owners on putting up fake, wood-grain paneling in every room. It was a ghastly experience, one that I vowed never to repeat. I only have two words for you: sheet rock dust. Oh, that’s three–sorry.

  8. Jamie Miles says:

Jane, there already is a layer of dust from when they took all the walls down. They have yet to put up the new wall — but since the insulation went in today, maybe they aren’t far behind. I’m sure sanding the floors for refinishing won’t help the dust.

  9. Oh gosh, that’s quite a renovation project. I guess one reason I’m glad we live in an apartment? But I would love to do work on our place but I’m not sure that I could handle it. But I would do it if it meant that I could have more natural light. Good luck!!

  10. Stasha says:

You crack me up. Although I am sorry you had the opportunity to take those photos I am very excited about your new home. Also I am not sure if I should tell you I like that black and white tile since it might be the last one you are ripping out?

  11. OMG – really 2016? I’d be crazy. But I know the end result is going to be so wonderful.

  12. Jamie Miles says:

That was a joke Kenya. But I am touched that you were concerned for my mental well-being.
