Pink that turns blue. Was the ultrasound wrong?

Pink that turns blue. Was the ultrasound wrong?

A few years ago I hosted Garden Club at the house.

Our speaker brought lots of clippings. We had drawings for the plants.

I ended up with a pink hydrangea.

I was sooo happy. Having always wanted a hydrangea in our yard, this was my chance.

Here is the yard across the street.

I planted my pink hydrangea a few years ago and today I noticed.

My pink was turning blue.

Next spring, I bet I’ll have blue flowers just like my neighbor.

Seems if there is too aluminum in the soil the flower will turn blue.

Since it’s rather hard to take aluminum out of the soil, the thing is to raise the pH.

I personally think I’ll just have the blue hydrangea.

What about you? Have you ever had a flower change on you?

  1. Those hydrangeas are AMAZING! I only have one very small bush, and I keep saying I’ll plant more — I prefer the blue (or white) so I’d keep the blue too. And no, never had a flower change color except when drying 🙂

Jamie- here is an article that tells you how to change them to blue. I’ve also heard that coffee grounds work. http://pinterest.com/pin/242983342365778169

The white ones are beautiful Julia. I do love those deep blue varieties ~ but if this one has pink in her name, I feel she should be pink darn it.

Well heavens Trish. I certainly have enough coffee grounds to drown the poor thing. Will have to try.
