Musing on the Pony Express. And wondering why I didn’t get a car?

Musing on the Pony Express. And wondering why I didn’t get a car?

The Pony Express. They look young. I must have looked young too.

I missed this documentary on Saturday night.

I attended SMU 1981 – 1984.

I sat in Texas Stadium on Saturdays. I few times I spoke with Eric Dickerson on campus as he seemed a nice fellow. He drove a Trans Am. Everyone always said..”Courtesy of A & M.”

I thought that’s what went on and driving out to Irving those Saturdays, we were going to win.

Lance McIllheney, the starting quarterback  those Pony Express years, was the Theta intramural football coach my senior year. I was starting center (came to me out running that Mary Bolderbuck was starting center our senior year. I was on the right side, Chris last name can’t remember was on left side).

In mighty sorority football, any of the three linegals could release for passes.

Back then, Lance said my receptions stats were unbelievable.

I caught everything thrown my way.

Which was true. Though there weren’t a lot of passes in my direction, I was go-to on short down situations.

My son he got his football talent from mama.

We lost to the Phi Mus in intramural finals.

I don’t have TiVo. Did anyone TiVo this?

Go Ponies. Go Theta. Those were some fun years. And I wasn’t even getting paid.
