Country Mice to the Big City. Letgo my Lego.

Country Mice to the Big City. Letgo my Lego.

My youngest has a late October birthday.

The poor guy. Any thought of a party usually gets blown away by the Halloween Hoopla Express.

This year was to be different. We headed to the big city and the Legoland Discovery Center.

I selected a small group of boys. Bought tickets ahead online to get the discount.

Who is the self-actualized savvy saver?

When we got there, my first thought was really all these country boys needed was a trip to the big city mall.

They loved the escalator from the parking deck.

Then they got in the glass elevator and I KNEW I should have not worried about buying entrance into Legoland. Their oohs and aahs had the townie kids wondering what in the world? Haven’t you all ever been in an elevator before?

We made it into Legoland and saw the sights.

Dad silhouetted by a spooky Lego replica of where he goes every day to earn the money for such birthday excursions.

Even if the glass elevator and the escalator could have been enough without forking over the money for Legoland — we did have fun.

In the end, my son collapsed– intoxicated —  in a vat of Legos rather like a cat overdosing on catnip.

He looked so happy.

So I left him there.

Oh gosh.

I guess I better head into Atlanta tomorrow to fish that country mouse out of those orange Legos and bring him back home.

Any great birthday party ideas? A girl is up next.

After raising boys of my own I can completely relate to this post. Boys are all about doing and this is something mine would have enjoyed.
