10 Things About My Abode.

10 Things About My Abode.

A list of 10 things around my home. That’s what this Monday Listicle calls for.

Oh dear.

10.   A Healthy Snack.

This was just consumed by me.

Because I am peri-menopause looney about how weight seems to be layering on my bod at an alarming rate.

Through voracious reading on subject, I’ve learned if there is any chance at prying a pound or two from its death grip on my mid-section, I need to stay away from insulin inducing snacks.

Like this.

9. Insulin-inducing snack that followed me home from Chicago.

Good grief. Have you had this stuff? Cheese popcorn and caramel corn in one bag.

I may have consumed a few handfuls after this photo. (I have very small hands to be such a tall person.)

8. Vitamins.

Notice how they are still waiting on the table. I can barely ingest these things now.  But better choke them down to counterbalance insulin-inducing snack.

7. My Bike/dress shirt-cane holder.

Glad to see I’m taking advantage of all this great early fall riding weather.

6.  A few of my coffee cups.

5.   My Chalkboard.

Yes, no fancy dry eraser for me. Our schedule looks light today.

Bliss.

Makes me wonder what I’m forgetting.

4.  My Adopt-A-Pantry basket.

I moved the basket up to the kids art table out of the doorway — it’s filling up. 🙂

Poor Oreo. This photo makes him look rather huge.

3. A Necklace holder.

In all of our recent IKEA mania, I ended up with this piece and have no idea what it is for. A clever friend came up with this.

See, it pays to surround yourself with people who are far more clever than you.

They can help figure what to do with all the cr@p you accumulate and make it useful and very uncr@p like.

2. A ladder.

Brought down to help out with our recent painting escapade, I’ve yet to take it back to the attic because I need to change a light bulb in my child’s room.

I love to stand on tiptoe on ladders while changing light bulbs.

That ladder may stay out for a bit.

1. My dishwasher.

Came home from trip to find the door finally released itself on its own recognizance.

It still works.

I think I’ll start a trend.

Industrial chic.

What about you? What’s in your home that you aren’t afraid to show the World Wide Web?

  1. I am really enjoying your posts lately — and the possibility of getting yet another post idea from you, too 🙂 This one may show up at wordsxo one of these days (and when I say this one, I promise to use my own house’s pics, although I think my house is a lot messier than yours so I may be embarrassed and wish I used your pics!)

Well, Julia – it does happen to be a little neater today. But we had to clean up for the babysitter this weekend. Sad to admit but true.

  3. Very trendy dishwasher! Every appliance in my house is acting up now. I’m not happy! Love the necklace holder, brilliant!

  4. Rorybore says:

love the idea of industrial chic – then I wouldn’t have to actually fix anything. the kids bring home tons of artwork – I can just use them to cover up anything that is not tres chic. haha
but the necklace thing – that is actually genuis, I may have to steal that idea for real.

  5. Kate says:

Great list! The bike cracked me up. And oh, how I hate to swallow giant horse-pill vitamins. I take those adult chewables or just eat my kid’s.

  6. Diane says:

Haaahaaa! Great list! I am post-menopausal and have pretty much given up. ;P

I am glad to see that you use your exercise equipment for more useful purposes too and I can’t believe your dishwasher actually works! :O

  7. Jamie says:

I of course love the basket the most!! Yay you… it should help some with 1 and 2 too!

  8. Love the bike and the laundry basket. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  9. Those shirts and can on the bike crack me up! I’ve seen it with stationary bikes, but not real ones! 🙂 Also, I say go with the new dishwasher trend! It’ll be all the rage. 🙂 And good idea to use the basket for the pantry donations.

  10. Bridget says:

Oreo might have gotten into the popcorn.

  11. Jill says:

Oh, sweet Garrett’s popcorn! I went to Chicago during NATO summit a few months ago. There was security EVERYWHERE. Getting back on the train to head home with a full bag of Garrett’s popcorn to take for the kids (okay, me too) and they made me throw the bag away. No food or drink on the train. I almost cried.

  12. Please start the trend of industrial chic. Please. Ellen

  13. Ado says:

Hahaha! I have never seen a bike used as a shirt holder too!
And “the snack that followed you home from Chicago…” yummy. (-:

  14. Audrey says:

Industrial Chic… so clever! I see a trend starting!

  15. Stasha says:

Industrial chic it is! Love your cane holder. And I have a major cup hoarding problem. Naturally I only use one…
