I’ll Rough It As Long As There’s Internet.

I’ll Rough It As Long As There’s Internet.

Stream of Consciousness.

Roughing it.

Five minutes. No edits.

Go.

I don’t do cold.

I don’t do wet.

I don’t like the thought of bugs crawling on my body.

I’ve never been a girly girl so why do I cringe at the idea of camping. A tent, a sleeping bag and the quiet universe of God’s creation.

Because I am a victim of the 21st Century.

I’m weak. I admit.

All of a sudden, I thought of poor souls living in third world countries.

Without clean water or heat or indoor plumbing.

Cold. That is the one thing I truly would curl up in a fetal position and say “Mama.”

No. Just fooling.

I love to camp. I love insect bites and dirt under my fingernails and cold baths in streams, scrubbing myself clean with sand from the river bottom.

As long as there is room service.

TIME.

  1. Yes, yes and YES to all of it. We had home enforced “camping” a few weeks back with Hurricane Sandy and it was cold, devoid of indoor plumbing/running water and decidedly internetless. It sucked big time. No camping for me. Point me to the nearest Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon please!

I was thinking the same watching all those terrible photos from the Sandy aftermath. No power and the temps dropped. I thanked God each night I lay in bed and the heat kicked on.

Yep, I hear you, Jamie. I don’t mind a day of camping, but only a day, then I’m ready to get back to civilization. I admire people who can do it for an extended period of time.

  4. I was with you, then I wasn’t, then I was again! My kinda girly girl 😉

  5. Anna Hettick says:

Yeah me too, if there’s internet I can probably get through about anything. But yes that does make me a “victim” of being from the 21st century. 🙂

  6. Laura says:

    Amen, sister!
