Musing on Small Success Thursday on Saturday. Because I’m a rebel.

No.

That’s not why I’m posting on my Small Successes for the week on Saturday.

I saw Sherry’s post on the Yahoo Humor group. Went to her blog and read of her small successes for the week and thought…that’s that I need.

I need to obsessively fixate on what I did get done this week, no matter how small, more than what I didn’t.

So here I go.

*   Got holiday cut-out cookies made.

*   Had awesome fun day with friend doing what she wanted for bday celebration.

*   Tried to break dance. Though was a horrible failure, at least I tried and realized how INCREDIBLY strong those young guys must be.

*    Finally got a long run in. Okay with Thanksgiving a week away, that run wasn’t so much about my physical preparation as my head prep. After running two hours, (not so fast and not so pretty) I know I can complete the race and enjoy the morning.

Wait. These are all events I’ve blogged about. That might take them off the small success list. Maybe I need to dig deeper.

 *    *    *

*   Inspired by Galit’s post I read early one morning this week. Once my children got up…look what we did. This was before school — people. And alright, it might have also classified as bribery to get them out of bed.

We made blue-green and green-blue pancakes.

It wasn't even St. Patty's Day.

*     I cooked dinner (a rather loose interpretation of the word cooked) for my family three weeknights this week.

*     One school night we entertained our neighbors and had a ball. I even cooked. (If you count prep of awesome salad cooking.) And takeout pizza did the rest.

*      I remembered to make all the deposits my husband left for me. This might be the small success that was the most important.

*     I finally replaced the one remaining pot with some cheery, bright pansies. (This also included blowing leaves from back yard space. And it looked beautiful for about 30 minutes.)

*      Cleaned the trash out of my car one morning before school. Didn’t have to drive away in shame from primary school drop off.

*       Didn’t need to sniff a line of coke to get through Beverly’s personal training session at gym on Tuesday.

Okay, that last one was just to see if you were paying attention. Though some mornings she makes me wish I had tried snorting coffee grounds or something.

No, all in all I did get somethings done this week. The dishes washed and put away. The laundry washed and dried and piled on the chair in the dining room.

I feel so much better this Saturday evening.

What was a small success you had this week? Try to think of one. You’ll feel moderately better…I promise.

    Hooray, you! Love seeing those FUN colorful pancakes!

    {And thank you so very much for the mention! :)}

    Well, they were most inspiring…

    Your pancakes reminded me of the time we made Green Eggs and Ham for dinner. So fun! One small success I had this week was to clear off the dining room table for Thanksgiving — my WIP was covering the entire thing! — and I was very pleased that I organized it all instead of just throwing it in a box. All in all, green-blue and blue-green pancakes sound like a much more fun accomplishment!

  4. this afternoon with my boys in greensboro (two that i nanny) we were going through my pictures when i was there age. with each passing one they would tell me if it looked like me or not. even though they were me. then your blog popped up because i had it minimized and your picture came up that settles in the top corner of your page. tanner yells, that looks like you! seemingly more so then my own pictures and i busted out laughing. he shrugged his shoulders and said–“well then it could be your mom.”–cracked me up and he started laughing. thought i would share that moment with you!

  5. Jamie Miles says:

    That’s sweet. I could be your mom…..though a very, very young one. Tell, Tanner thank you.

    Cleaning off the dining room table…that sounds like here. Though with me, it’s not work but laundry. I fold and stack it there in hopes that they will take their pile. It rarely works out that way. Every time I can see the whole table, I do think that is a small accomplishment.

  7. —sounds good to me! 🙂 i told tanner–he started laughing. he thinks he’s the funniest thing. he can be quite funny.
