Madison Community Theater. Miss Electricity is electric. Good news muse.
A while back I encouraged my daughter to audition for a local production, Miss Electricity.
This post might contain some unintentional spoilers – so beware.
The story centers on 10-year-old Violet who longs to be extra-special in some stupendous way. She settles on getting into the Guinness Book of World Records and with the help of her assistant (and friend) Freddy.
I snuck into sit with Violet’s mum, old friend and running pal, Stephanie Dickson.
Violet is picked on for her dreams of worldwide notoriety and isn’t that interested in her studies.
As the fates would have it, Violet gets struck by lightening not once, but twice and becomes convinced she can control anything electric-powered.
Well, seems like a lot of Miss Electricity’s powers are due to the help of her friend Freddy. So when her supernatural abilities start to fail, she is transported to the wisdom of the ancients.
With Zeus preoccupied, the attention shifts to his daughter, the goddess of wisdom, Athena.
Who happens to be my daughter too.
Wonder how that happened? Zeus and I having the same daughter.
There are moments when your children surprise the heck out of you….
This was one of those for me.
She came out and stood on that pedestal and I wondered — who in the world was this?
The production ended with, what else…the Electric Slide. They were dancing in the aisles.
At least I was. Till the usher asked me to sit down.
There was an older cast who performed tonight…
This cast will have a matinee at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday. And another show tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
I loved it.
For five dollars, how can you beat an hour’s worth of great theater?
It’s electric.

What a great production! And your daughter is adorable. (Loved the comment about Zeus) But of course the best part is the Laurel wreath 😉
Yes, Julia. I think the wreath was the highlight of the production. Thanks for all your expert counsel.
