Spring has sprung. Mid-January.

Spring has sprung. Mid-January.

The temperatures have been in the 70s for almost a week now.

My broccoli is very confused.

I have two rows of beautiful heads that are starting to flower because they think it is mid-March.

If they start to press for seed now, that means no more fresh broccoli for me.

(( POUT ))

This photo was taken a few days ago because when I got home today it was dark.

Warm but dark.

And I wasn’t about to trudge in the garden to take a flash photo of my remain flowering heads.

Take my word. They are full of bitty yellow flowers.

The Midwest is icy and snowy.

Not only is the broccoli confused.

So am I.

How is the weather in your broccoli patch?

gosh that is frustrating. I never had good luck with broccoli only because i don’t really know how to grow it but sure wish I did. You will have to teach me:)

Broccoli is very easy Kerry. Just make sure you plant it in sun and in the fall. It needs cooler weather and that’s why mine is going to seed to early. I should be having fresh heads for the next few months but I think they all are about ruined. Tried to give away lots in the last few days.

OK I’m putting this in my calendar as a reminder for next fall. Thanks!

  4. It’s cold here – and about to get colder! I’d be happy for a little summer in Jan (I used to get this in CA sometimes).
