A week in #iPPP Photos. College, Bikes, Bees and Bonnie Bell.

I survived.

A week ago, I dropped our first born (and my only born) off at college.

This was me in the backseat on the way there.

I love it how young children love to document you in unguarded, most flattering way in life-changing moments.

Maybe this should be my new profile picture? With accompanying gut ache.

I made it, just fine. Like billions of moms before me.

I made it will the help of a glass or three of wine and a bike ride. Certainly not simultaneously mind you.

Hadn’t even left the driveway yet when this disaster befell me.

Then some time during the week, I tweeted a reply at Sue Monk Kidd, bestselling author of The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair.

And she tweeted back at me.

So I’m thinking me and Sue are new BFFs. We can sit over coffee and discuss plots and climaxes and all the millions we’ve made.

Too fun.

Then today, my daughter —  even after I made her take off all the makeup she had slathered on — showed up at Middle School visitation with more make up than I.

I forget that in a small town everyone and their BFF (though no one else has Sue Monk Kidd as their BFF) shows up for these things.

WHY didn’t I wear any make up?

And no, I won’t show you that picture — the one of my naked face.

So how was your week?

Linking up with those BFFs @gfunkied and @themamamash for #iPPP.

Hey, that’s my picture! I’m practically famous! 😀

I’m glad you survived the week. I will definitely have a case of wine in the trunk for when I do that. Ahem.

    Love your blog!
And my kids only take unflattering pictures of me, period.
We went to college this week as well – but just for a visit. The University of British Columbia in Vancouver has a blue whale skeleton in one of their museums and I just to go and see that.
My son decided that’s where he’s going to college, because there is a 24/7 McDonalds on campus….

That look RIGHT THERE is why I’m terrified to have a daughter. Oh my gosh.

I recognize that look on your daughter’s face! Parents are not allowed at middle school orientation here, so I don’t have to worry about what I look like at least. Because I never wear makeup 🙂 Glad you survived dropping off your oldest – I’m so not ready for that. And congratulations on your new bff 🙂 I recently tweeted to an actor I like and got an immediate response and felt the same way!

  5. Oh, jeez. I recognize that EXACT FACE. My poor mom- I rue the day when my daughter serves my former attitude right back in my face.

Um wow- so you are famous by tweet! That’s pretty cool and I would be giddy myself 🙂 I love the look of your daughter. Oh how I remember that face all too well. Giving it of course- and looks like she has got it down!

I have to say I went out tonight with old, smeary eye makeup on from 10 hours before. I wasn’t pretty. Not sure but I think it means we’re so confident we don’t need it!
