Turn that frown upside down. Ten reasons to.

Busy, busy, busy.

I’m really not one of these people who likes to be doing something every. single. moment.

No. I’m more of a potted plant who would love nothing than to sit in the sun and get a good watering every now and then. When things get busy, I have a tendency to forget all the great things in my little green corner of the plant.

So linking up with Lizzi and the gang for Ten Things of Thankful.

10.  I got my garden planted. This is big people.

Well, in my life it is. I forget what a chore it is to pull every thing up. Get a tiller. Till the soil and then plant the plants. It happened this weekend. Major fist pump.

This.

Became.

This.

(And I’m not going to crop out the dumpster. Because that is my life — the underbelly — until this blasted renovation is done.)

This is me after I finished planting.

You should see me after painting a room.

9.  Got another bit of freelancing work.  Which I needed to be researching and writing today but there were more plants to buy and cakes to bake.

8.  My son visited this weekend from college on a short fall break.

And the most miraculous thing — a thing of biblical proportions — was that when I asked him if he wanted to go run a 5K with me the next morning, he said, “yes.” Which we did yesterday.

7.  I washed down my porch this week and now

am enjoying this great fall weather on a nice clean porch.  It really is the little things.

6. They are coming to sand our floors tomorrow.

This is one of those coolio Rammer Jammer paranoramer photos that only my children seem capable of producing with my phone.

I should put in arrows and headings to show you were my refrigerator and sink and coffee mug collection will be. But that would take way too much time. Sorry.

5.   Me mum is all moved in.

Yes, the last of her furniture arrived yesterday and mom has her own house just a block or so away. She’s happy so I’m happy.

4.  School starts back up tomorrow.

The kids have been out all week. It’s been fun. But….

3.  Out of the blue. a friend’s husband pulled a slip a paper out of his wallet to show me. “I keep this in here to read when I get discouraged.”

It was an old column I wrote three or four years ago.  Most writers can keep going for decades on the least morsel of affirmation — so never hurts to encourage the creative types.

2.  A few boo-ti-ful ride on my bike this week.

Still fairly warm here. And crystal clear blue skies. Love riding through the countryside.

1. Off week for the Falcons. It’s really been a great Sunday.
