Musing on the 13th sign.

Musing on the 13th sign.

Did you hear about the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus?

In January, there was quite a fury about how changes in the earth’s alignment created an additional zodiac sign.  And it bumped all the other’s off.

Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18 – May 13
Taurus: May 13 – June 21
Gemini: June 21 – July 20
Cancer: July 20 – Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 – Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 – Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 – Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 – Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 – Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 – Jan. 20

After a life time of reading Cancer foreshadowings, I now have to read Gemini.

Or do I?

Seems are a zodiac calendars for the Eastern and Western astrology.

“Most of us are familiar with tropical zodiac (Western), based on the seasons, which has not changed, though sidereal zodiac (Eastern), based on constellations, has different signs including a 13th.” Huffington Post.

I’m confused.

So by the Chinese Calendar I’m born in the Year of the Rabbit. That means…I searched for another website, because I was really tired of the downer bunny stereotype

“Rabbits are friendly, outgoing and enjoy the company of other people. They prefer to avoid conflict and tend to shy away from aggressive and competitive situations. My favorite part —->>>their homes are usually neat and organized.”

By the Vietnamese calendar I was born in the Year of the Cat. But they have different cats for different years.

Seems 1963, we are water cats.

“Those born in 1903 and 1963 are called water cats and are inclined to be peace makers, cool and easy going. Unfortunately, their kind and supportive nature is most often abused and taken advantage of.”

Good grief, sounds like the bunny.

Or am I Cancer?
“Were you born between 4th and 13th July? Well, Cancer, I see you have a very deep and penetrating mind and can sometimes be overly intense in relationships. Your loyalty is unconditional and you make the staunchest of friends.” I am a good friend. Whether I’m a headcase in relationships only my husband can truly answer.

Or under the new (old) zodiac, am I a Gemini?

“Gemini is all about intelligence and communication. You’re born under this sign and have a talent for and love of using your minds and expressing yourself fully.”

I guess I am like all of them — and then nothing like them. Depending on the day and the hour.

What do you think? Does this make sense?

I’m truly curious. Not particularly clever at moment, but I am curious what you think about astrology, whether Eastern or Western?
