It’s the “Oh BTWs” that can get you in life.

Linking up with Jana’s Thinking Place for five minutes of Stream of Consciousness writing. Five minutes. No edits.

Our prompt:

What I learned this week.

Go:

Well, things can change on the proverbial dime.

We all have that thought lurking in the recesses of our mind (or at least I do) but we squish it down, keep plugging away and hope that when the changes come we can roll with it.

Cue REO.

Last Sunday this time, I was leaving the Type-A Parent blogging conference. Leaving a day early, it had been wonderful but I needed to get back home.

My phone went off. It was my daughter texting me, wondering when I would get home?

I answered and then she  gave me the proverbial, O BTW.

Yes, her Oh, BTW was that my husband and in-laws had left her and her brother sitting in church, while they had to rush off to the hospital.

SUPER.

Thankfully, when I got back into town and checked on them at the hospital, it was nothing terribly serisous.

STOP.

Okay. I’ll leave that typo and tell you that my dear father-in-law, did have to go in later in the week and have a heart monitor inserted under the skin. They are checking to see if he needs a pacemaker.

Yes, it’s often the afterthoughts that flip your world around.

“Oh btw, I saw your husband at the lake.” At the lake? He told me had to work this weekend.

Been getting the mail and checking on things every day. Oh btw, we haven’t seen your dog for four days.”

“Your meniscus looks fine. Oh btw, see this — as the doctor points at X-xray — this is the starting of arthritis. That’s what is  going to stop you from running one day.”

That’s what I learned this week.

Those darned “Oh BTWs” can bite.
What about you? Learn anything?
