Muses

Passions. Muzing on ten things that send me into orbit.

Passion. So many passions to chose from so little time and energy.

Another Monday and I’m listing away with Stasha and Monday Listicles.

Here’s the prompt.

“This week is very special because we are celebrating the wonderful life of MarilynJackie lost her friend after a brief illness and her legacy and love for life is the inspiration behind this weeks topic: Passion!”

Ten things I’m passionate about in random order:

Skinny-skiing, going to bullfights on….

No silly. After this list, I realize I’m a passionately boring woman.

1. The Weather.

The original Weather Channel groupie, if TWC is showing by default on the monitor at the fitness center, I can stride away for hours on the elliptical while the weather washes over me. Not a slave to techno-weather, I can’t pass a field without observing if the cows are lying down or standing up. And always check whether the sky is red at night or in the morning.

Very weird, I know.

2. Raw Broccoli.

I LOVE raw broccoli. My newest fave is to take florets and marinate them in olive oil, vinegar, honey and garlic and pop them in my mouth as potato chips. I don’t like to write about the enjoyment of food in sexual terms because it is soooo very overdone. But if I were to break that rule, it would be about raw broccoli and that marinade.

Extreme weird, I know.

3.  My husband.

What can I say? How can I not be passionate about someone who is still passionate for me after 25 years. Utterly surprised? No. Passionate? Yes.

4.  My children.

5.  The walks on the beach.

I walk on the beach for hours. (And this is not because I am staying with all my in-laws for a week.)  Once I get going, I can’t stop. I’ve walked so far my feet were raw — which was terrible because then I couldn’t walk at all the next day.

6. Swimming in the ocean.

On the perfect day, with perfect clear (somewhat rolling water) — this is my favorite experience on the planet. I have stayed in the water for hours on such days. Just wanting them to last forever — somehow imprinting everything in my mind for the cold, damp, dreary days that eventually come.

7. The University of Florida Gators.

Okay. I’ve punched people. (Very girly punches.) Left parties. Any other embarrassing behavior that you can imagine over a stupid football team. I’d like to think maturity now reigns and I realize that it is most idiotic to let the actions of 18-year-old school boys affect my happiness. But I still get a knot in my stomach when they are on the telly.

8.  Writing.

I could sit and write all day while the cluttering house and laundry slowly but surely sealed me in.

V. weird — might require counseling — I know.

9. Sleep.

Or more accurately that heady, euphoric feeling that all is done for the day. My bed is warm, the sheets are clean and as I snuggle against passion Number 3, drifting off..zzzzzz.

10.  Southern Food.

Fried chicken, butter beans, grits and red-eye gravy. Biscuits and butter. Collards and black-eyed peas.

I’m hungry and time to eat.

What are you passionate for? And it can’t be any more boring than some of mine.

P. S. — I should have had running on there…oh well.
