Musing on when the crafting bug bites.
Occasionally, I craft.
And when the craft bug burrows under my skin, often it is at most inappropriate times.
Like when I’m getting ready to leave town and I should be…
* Doing laundry.
* Cleaning the house for visiting in-laws.
* Getting children’s schedules organized.
* Cleaning out refrigerator so in-laws don’t think their son married…no, they know who he married. I just don’t need to perpetuate a stereotype.
* And never taking two children out of school at different times for orthodontist as I did today. Good thinking.
A 102,000 things I should have done today, and I pulled out the sewing machine…
to stitch a fall kitchen tablecloth.
Not only do I have a changing of the seasonal guard in the baskets on my dining room table fixation — I change tablecloths in the kitchen.
It makes me happy to look down upon festive fabric cheer while children throw syrup and bacon at each other.
With the recent grey skies, my beach cloth and watermelon tablecloths utterly (and irrationally) bothered me.
So when I had no time to spend an hour crafting…I did.
LOVE this most practical side of me.
My children won’t even notice the watermelons are gone.
But my seasonal tablecloth anxiety will be eased, only to have created much more anxiety about not being ready to leave on time.
When does the crafting bug strike you?
Are you a rational crafter or a cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs crafter like me?
