Musing on what I brought back from vacation.
I came home lighter than when we left.
Not in body weight. Not sure about that because I left my old scale down there. I had visions of keeping its temperamental self as a travel scale. Then the first morning we were there it read 300 pounds then it read 95.
I deposited it a dumpster leaving town.
So down one scale — we brought back…
My husband bought this at a Metter, Georgia DQ on the ride back. The dog was wearing ketchup. He took one bite and about puked.
He can only eat things plain. (Such a long story.)
And I brought back a rested me. A lighter me.
I did not sigh and pout when my husband wasted that hot dog.
Before we left, some days my strength felt about as fragile as that pitiful bug. With a little rest, I feel a bit stronger — more like a yellow jacket.
I’m having a bit more patience with my daughter’s tantrum tonight.
That’s what a little more sleep allows me.
Ready to hit the ground at 4:15 tomorrow. Okay, not so ready. I may hit the snooze a time or two.
It’s back to my wonderful reality. A little more rested.
When to you rest — if at all?

and I thought ketchup was a “food group” for John. Did not know he shunned it too!!!
4:15, Jamie? A.M.??? What is the world like at that hour of the morning. I don’t think I’ve been there since college 🙂
Hope all is going well with you.
Julie – John doesn’t do any condiments. He orders everything plain which means the drive thru is always messing up his order. And Jean, I do try to get up that early but I saw a text late that my early morning swim buddy canceled so I decided to sleep a bit later. x>)
I knew there was an extra special kindred spirit in John. I, too, order everything plain. I learned LONG ago to check every burger, etc. before I drive away from the window….pass along to John. It will make his drive-thru life so much more fulfilling 🙂
Sissy. Every restaurant – no matter if the best steakhouse in Manhattan or McDonalds at the interstate, he!s going to ask for that meat to be plain. It’s probably healthier. But makes me mad when he refuses to eat perfectly good food.
Sissy and I are the sane ones. Sissy, thanks for advice about checking order before driving away.
