Musing on falling asleep at the wheel.
Today was supposed to be a great day for my and my youngest son. It ended up being one filled with frustrations.
None of which I will write about now. I’ll save it for a column, future post or let it die away. Right now I’m too exhausted to think about it.
We left Atlanta a little after 2 p.m. About halfway home, I could hardly keep my eyes open. The next half hour I struggled to keep awake and get home before the bus.
Now if I had been really worried, I would have pulled over — but I’m glad I just had to drive a half hour. A younger me used to sleep a few hours, get up at 2 a.m then drive seven hours to be at my parents by mid-morning.
Is it age, exercising more? The cumulative effects of too little sleep? Too much coffee?
Right now I really want a nap.
Last nap I remember was after my last marathon – two years ago.
Ten years ago, I was an excellent napper. I slept a lot, period. What happened?
I got older. And realized how fast ten years goes.
So I’m committed to staying awake as much as I can —
NEWSFLASH My ten year old just came in the room to announce a boy called and asked “do you want out with me?”
See why I need to stay awake?

I have had so many of those moments. When you look down and pay special attention to any certain part of your body. It’s always a shock. For me, I don’t care about the pale skin. I don’t do sun. It causes wrinkles and I have a whole arsenal of products to fight those little bastards. So I do like a vampire and stay away. For me its those little veins that are suddenly so visible, or the sagging skin. That’s when I start screaming.
I haven’t run in a long time either. I’ve replaced it with the Turbo Jam. The work outs are killer and I am losing weight and firming up. I can’t wait to advance further into the program, but I have to get the moves down first. I’m telling you, you should try it. 20 min feel like 5 and I love all the karate moves! I might actually get up the nerve to join a karate class down the road and learn to use those kicks and punches!!!

I’ve been looking the ads for those vein zapper clinics in magazines. I actually had a conversation about them with someone at church. Good grief. Glad the turbo workout is doing it for you.
