How Great Thou Art? Or Aren’t.

How Great Thou Art? Or Aren’t.

It is Monday and I am posting a very late addition to this week’s Listicle at Stasha’s place.

On a topic suggested by Mrs. M. from The Bonny Bard.

The prompt: 10 REASONS I AM GREAT.

10. I have my own logical, illogical way of thinking.
Or you could call it creativity — that can’t be measured by any standard known to man.

9.   I have an awesome garden that I love. I share my bounty with anyone and eat a lot of greens this time of year so good for my health.

8.   I’m disciplined about exercise. This is more for mental health than physical. And I like to eat.

7.   I like to try new things. My barefoot shoes as an example.

6.  I’m basically a big kid. Which is fun for my kids when we goof off. But hell for them, (and me) when I have to make them study.

5.  I make a killer plate of fried chicken.

4.   If you want to waste a morning having coffee and  chatting — I’m your gal.

3.   I plow out into the world without giving too much thought about my appearance. No makeup, hodgepodge of clothes. This is a rather new phenom in my life, but not fretting about my appearance adds at least an hour of productive time to my day.

2.     I’m a messy lover. I fall in love with people, causes, turtles and story ideas with way too much abandon. My only saving grace is that I’m am rather goofy and calm on the exterior so folks aren’t ever freaked out or have any knowledge of much I really care about them or things such as Cookies and Cream ice cream.

1.   I appreciate the small things now. Which is such a relief, let me tell you.

What about you? What makes you great?

  1. How are the barefoot shoes. If I were a baby, I’d cry every time I saw someone wearing them. They kinda freak me out. Loved your list and I would love to have you over for #4 with #3.

I”m in love with your concept of “messy lover” because that describes me to a tee! And then I cry for all kinds of reasons. We have so much in common and some of that, I feel, is do to our wonderful age and experience 😉 Except 5 and 9. I don’t have a green thumb so I am green with envy and I’ve never made fried chicken but would love to eat some at your house!

Ha. Kenya — all I can say is that my hamstrings and glutes used to be sooo tight. Since you can’t heel-strike with these shoes, all that pain has gone away. My flexible has come raging back. I’m not like I was at 15, but it had gotten so a couldn’t touch my toes without warming up for a half hour.

  4. Jamie Miles says:

My fried chicken is good, girl friend. I need to make another batch soon. Only problem is that it is messy but every one loves it so. Every now and then it’s worth it.

  5. Audrey says:

What is your secret to fried chicken?! I am horrible at it! and can you garden for me?! Great list!

  6. Jamie Miles says:

Audrey — part of it is that I season the chicken in the fridge over night. Or at least a few hours. I little bit of salt, pepper and garlic powder. The when you fry it the oil has to be the right temp. Hot but not too hot.

  7. marie says:

    Great list, you messy lover!

  8. christine says:

MMM, cookies and cream ice cream. I’m a messy lover for sure.
And while I don’t drink coffee, I love those early morning talks with friends.
    Nice job with the list!

  9. Stasha says:

Yes please. I will waste a morning with you any day!!!
