Along with black-eyed peas, a side of strategic planning.

Goals.

At the start of every year in recent memory I wrote down goals.

Haven’t done that yet.

New Year’s Day, I dined on black-eyed peas and collard greens.

The first meal I prepared with my new cook top.

So today, I’m linking up with the Finish the Sentence Friday posse and the prompt:

“My blogging goals for this year are . . .”

*  Try to blog daily and take advantage of blogging by phone and iPad. Nothing keeps the connection between brain and fingers flowing like writing every day. Maybe once or twice a week try to flex my writing prowess with a thoughtful, well-crafted post, but for the most part — the blog is where I play. Think. Or process life as it comes to me.

Blogging = therapy.

Blogging = relationship and community.

*  Since my blog is attached to my writer’s site, I need to get links to my freelance work on the samples page. Been terrible about that.

*  Go to a couple of blogging conferences this year. Such great fun and helps build relationship and community. Or maybe one great writer’s conference and one great blogging conference?

*   Find my audience. Or whittle down the scope of my blog. I’m not really a mommy blogger anymore, or don’t want to write about my children as much. Want to focus more on finding meaning and humor in the second phase of my time here on earth.

Pooh. That sounds really esoteric. Just want to blog about the goofiness of life-in-the-middle.

That’s about it. I want blogging to remain an outlet but writing projects to take priority.

Shifting priority to freelance assignments and books/collaborative works.

Last year was one of refocusing.

Not the wild, frantic do-everything-before-I-die blast of a mid-life crisis. More one of analyzing.

Not only what do I want to do, what do I need to do? For time is short and I fritter way too much away trying to do everything.

Wife, mother, friend — and exercise are all priorities. Clean house. Er. It’s up there too.

Writing needs to be a disciplined part of my day.

What about you? Any goals, blogging or no?
